The four had not gone far when they saw an enormous barrier ahead, covering tens of thousands of kilometers and sealing off all the surrounding space.
"This is the assessment zone. Every newly found genius must undergo assessment here. Only those who pass may stay. Those who fail... basically all die!" Ji Ling said.
"They all die? The assessment is that harsh?" Nie Yun was taken aback.
Although a world on the level of the Nine Heavens World was not considered large, it still contained countless living beings. The few selected from among them were obviously extraordinary geniuses. If even they could not pass the assessment, then it was truly far too harsh.
"Yes! There are several hundred people in every assessment, yet fewer than ten truly pass! The survival rate is usually around one percent..." Ji Ling's face reddened as she spoke. "I've brought quite a few geniuses here for assessment before, but... I've never succeeded even once!"

As the two conversed by voice transmission, a shout rang out nearby.
Nie Yun looked up. As they continued forward, they had drawn close to the assessment zone. At the end of the passage, a crowd was lining up to enter the barrier. Two guards sat at the entrance, their faces full of impatience.
There were several hundred people in line, each led by someone like Ji Ling.
The people being led were roughly as strong as Nie Yun's current Disguise, at the peak of the Sky-Repelling Mirror Realm. There were occasionally one or two in the early Heaven-Slaying Realm. Each stood proudly among the crowd, like cranes standing among chickens, looking down on everyone else
