Background

Nie Tong is the son of Nie Yun's Third Uncle and is commonly treated as Nie Yun's younger brother. At age three, venom from a snake bite petrified his legs and blocked his meridians, preventing him from cultivating a qi sea. Despite this, he secretly practiced swordsmanship from childhood using only muscular strength. Nie Yun had formerly called him useless and forbidden him from cultivating, leaving Nie Tong frightened of being discovered. 3

After Nie Yun's rebirth, he apologized through action: he allowed Nie Tong to practice freely and taught him the Spirit Rhinoceros Body Refining Technique, a Devil Race body-cultivation art capable of cleansing the lingering venom and restoring mobility. 3 62
