Nie Yun defeated Miss Bi'er and explained that he had fought her to assess her cultivation so he could devise a way for her to refine the Spirit of the Blazing Dragon. Miss Bi'er left believing his offer to help was driven by improper intentions, while Nie Yun was pleased with his gains.

  • Miss Bi'er realized Nie Yun's strength far exceeded hers and offered to recommend him as a deputy general.
  • Miss Bi'er suspected Nie Yun wanted her as a Dao Companion, but Nie Yun denied it and sent her a detailed refinement plan for the Spirit of the Blazing Dragon.
  • Nie Yun suggested helping Miss Bi'er refine the spirit, but she refused and left the courtyard.
  • Miss Bi'er concluded that Nie Yun had offered to stand guard because he harbored dirty thoughts and vowed to settle things with him after refining the spirit.
  • Nie Yun revealed a jade-green flame at his fingertip and laughed at his harvest.

Ch. 1964Dantian Rearranged

Nie Yun refined the Fire God Sect’s flame into a new talent, causing his Blazing Fire Dantian to rise above the Heavenly Dao Dantian in rank. After General Zhi Yao prepared to investigate the Qiu Long Beast’s valley, Nie Yun joined the expedition and impressed the general with his composure.

  • Nie Yun sent Bi'er fifty steps in one direction to release her fire power and Fei Tong fifty steps in another to absorb the Formation's spiritual energy, each for three breaths.

  • Nie Yun explained that Bi’er’s flames suppressed the Formation’s metal element and that Fei Tong had been sent to its water element, then began describing how earth generated metal.

Ch. 1973Altar, Coffin

Nie Yun explained how the group had broken the Five Elements Light-Veiling Formation and led them deeper into the cave. They found an altar with a coffin and four Qiu Long Beasts, and Nie Yun grew suspicious when the beasts seemed disappointed that the group had stopped before the steps.

  • Nie Yun explained how Fei Tong’s actions and General Zhi Yao’s attack had thrown the formation into chaos and destroyed it.
  • The group followed the four fleeing Qiu Long Beasts through the cave and found them standing around a cavern altar topped with a coffin.

  • Nie Yun proposed asking the Qiu Long Beasts whether a Formation guarded the altar, since they had lived there for a long time.
  • General Zhi Yao warned that the adult Qiu Long Beasts might attack Nie Yun, Bi'er, and Fei Tong if he engaged one of them.

  • General Zhi Yao restrained the young Qiu Long Beast while Nie Yun shielded himself, Miss Bi'er, and Fei Tong from its parents.
  • The adult Qiu Long Beasts stopped attacking when General Zhi Yao threatened their child, and he asked them about the cave, altar, and coffin.
  • Nie Yun, Miss Bi'er, Fei Tong, and General Zhi Yao could not understand the beasts' words, which were neither beast language nor their racial tongue.
  • General Zhi Yao pressed his spear to the young beast's throat, but Nie Yun noticed that its parents were pointing toward a corner of the cave.

  • Nie Yun recognized Feng Zhen, the former chief of the Luoshan Tribe, lying inside the coffin and wondered how he had entered the cave.

  • Nie Yun used the spear shaft and three quick strikes to disrupt the ambusher’s swordsmanship, but the attacker changed moves effortlessly and proved to have a body as powerful as his own.
  • Nie Yun vanished just before the sword struck his back, reappeared facing his attacker, and met the next blows with his spear.
  • Nie Yun recognized his attacker as Feng Zhen, the supposedly dead father of Feng Sheng, and realized Feng Zhen looked like a puppet under someone else’s control.
  • A mysterious voice told Nie Yun to kill Feng Zhen to pass the first trial and meet its speaker, but did not answer when Nie Yun asked about the trials.
  • Feng Zhen launched another lightning-fast sword attack aimed at Nie Yun’s brow.

Ch. 1981Closed-Eye Stone Turtle

Nie Yun defeated Feng Zhen by luring him into an ambush with his clone, then arrived in Yan Huang Hall and met the living Closed-Eye Stone Turtle. The turtle revealed that Nie Yun had entered a fortune-seeking trial, with two more trials to pass or his memories of the place would be erased.

  • Nie Yun retreated to bait Feng Zhen into attacking, then used his hidden clone to kill him with a single strike.
  • After Feng Zhen vanished, Nie Yun was transported to a vast hall containing a giant stone turtle with its eyes closed.
  • The stone turtle opened its eyes, spoke to Nie Yun, and identified the place as Yan Huang Hall.
  • Nie Yun guessed that the fortune was a Realm Emperor's inheritance, and the stone turtle said he could understand it that way.
  • The stone turtle warned Nie Yun that he still had two trials to pass and would lose all memories of the place if he failed.

Ch. 1982I Plan to Take the Test

Nie Yun learned that an Emperor Realm expert’s inheritance required him to pass two dangerous stages, with death destroying his body, soul, and clones. Despite the risks, he chose to take the test.

  • The stone tortoise asked why Nie Yun had chosen the dangerous passage, and he said he would not turn back merely because he feared danger.
  • The stone tortoise questioned how Nie Yun had vanished during his fight with Feng Zhen, guessed he had used a domain, and explained how domains worked.
  • The stone tortoise revealed it had brought Nie Yun into the coffin because he had shown unusual ability and might pass the inheritance test.
  • The stone tortoise warned that failing by refusing or surrendering would erase Nie Yun’s memories, while dying during the test would destroy his body, soul, and clones.
  • The stone tortoise offered Nie Yun a Peak King Artifact if he gave up, but Nie Yun decided to take the test.
