Yang Ming rubbed his nose, unable to shake the chilling sense that someone had cleaned him out. His eyelid was twitching rapidly. Something had happened in New York.
"Pack up." Yang Ming looked at Retsu Unohana. "Come back to New York with me."
Selene was stuffing those Atlantis gold coins into her pocket. At that, she looked up. "New York? Where's that? Some new gang's turf outside the city?"
Yang Ming said nothing. He raised a hand and snapped his fingers.
A wooden door covered in intricate carvings appeared out of thin air in the middle of the lobby. A faint blue glow shimmered around its frame, and the pressure difference caused by the folding of space sent the medical records on the desk rustling.
The coins in Selene's hand fell onto the tiles with a crisp clatter. Maggie's anatomy book slipped from her hands and landed at her feet.
"What kind of magic prop is this?" Selene circled the wooden door, reaching out to touch it before jerking her hand back as though she had been shocked.
"A door to another universe." Yang Ming rested his hand on the handle, his tone casual. "On the other side is Hell's Kitchen, New York, in the Marvel Universe. My other base."
Selene's eyes went perfectly round, and her jaw nearly hit the floor.
"Another universe?!" Selene pointed at Yang Ming, her voice shooting up an octave.
"Are you an alien? Or a god? No wonder you used to disappear for weeks at a time, and your phone was always out of service! I thought you were hiding in some basement to dodge your creditors!"
"Let me introduce myself again." Yang Ming adjusted his gold-rimmed glasses.
