Peter Parker was the first to jump in outrage, the white goggles on his mask widening until he looked like a startled frog.

Frank simply tucked his M1911 pistol back into his waistband and sneered, his eyes full of contempt:
"My job is putting bullets in those scumbags' heads. Extortion? That's work for two-bit street punks. Taking dirty money like that crosses my line."
Yang Ming looked at the three self-righteous men and rolled his eyes hard.
"Your line? Can your line put food on the table?" Yang Ming exhaled a thick cloud of smoke, looking at them through his gold-rimmed glasses as though they were idiots.
"Peter, you have to save for two weeks just to buy a new web-shooter, don't you? Matt, that shabby law firm of yours can barely afford the rent, right? And you, Frank, your gun barrel's worn smooth. What the hell are you going to use against Oscorp's enhanced troops?"
"I'd rather starve than take that money!" Peter shouted, his neck stiff, stubborn as a mule.
"Fine, fine. You're principled. You're amazing." Yang Ming waved a hand, no longer interested in persuading them.
"If you're so determined to get yourselves killed, I won't stop you. But remember, the next time someone carries you here beaten to a pulp, I won't even open the door without five million dollars. Off you go. I won't see you out."
