"Zod is a complete lunatic! He's going to crush the Earth!"
Standing amid the ruins of Kent Farm in Kansas, Clark stared fixedly into the black night sky, his eyes bloodshot.
"Crush it?" Diana frowned slightly, the Sword of Vulcan angled toward the ground in her hand, its cold edge glinting beneath the stars. "How?"
"The World Engine." Clark gritted his teeth, his voice filled with extreme fear and fury.
"It's a Kryptonian terraforming device. Once activated, it'll forcibly alter Earth's gravitational field and atmospheric composition. Every building, every plant, and billions of humans will be crushed into pools of blood under that monstrous gravity!"
Diana's gaze instantly turned cold.
She had lived for thousands of years and witnessed countless wars, but a massacre that wiped out an entire planet's ecosystem went far beyond human warfare.
"This is no longer a battlefield mortals can handle." Diana decisively hooked the Lasso of Truth back onto her waist and looked at Clark. "Where's the source?"
"There are two." Clark closed his eyes, his Super Hearing instantly spanning the globe. "One is descending over Metropolis. The other... is in the Indian Ocean! They're going to create gravitational resonance!"
"I'll go to Metropolis and stop those aliens in their tin suits." Diana wasted no time. She bent her knees slightly, and the earth beneath her feet instantly fractured. "You go to the Indian Ocean and smash that damned engine!"
Boom!
A cloud of vapor burst around her with a sonic boom, and Diana shot into the sky like a bolt of red-and-blue lightning.
Clark drew a deep breath and glanced back at his adoptive parents, who were huddled together. His red cape snapped, and he became a meteor hurtling toward the other side of the Earth.
