At the 22 Lake Street Clinic in Hell's Kitchen, New York, the morning sunlight had barely reached the backyard when Loki's furious roar nearly blew the roof off.
She tugged hard at the black tie around her neck. Her maid outfit had been forcibly replaced with a black women's suit befitting an attendant.
Beside her, Thor, also dressed in a black suit and built like a bear, struggled to button his shirt in front of a mirror.
"Shut up. Keep yelling and I'll dock next month's food allowance." Dressed in a casual suit, Yang Ming leisurely polished his new gold-rimmed glasses.
"Tony Stark chartered a plane. This is an all-expenses-paid vacation for you. Who goes on vacation in a maid outfit or a ratty jacket? Have some respect for the clinic's image."
"Exactly! You eat and drink for free and still have the nerve to complain!"
Jessica squeezed out of the back room carrying two enormous canvas bags stuffed with chips, cola, and spicy strips, then rolled her eyes dramatically at Loki.
"I'm going to feast on a rich man's dime. You two had better remember you're bodyguards and stay out of the way while I eat!"
"You lowly insect-" Green light flashed in Loki's eyes as she prepared to lash out.

Retsu Unohana, who had been watering a potted plant nearby, turned her head and gave her a gentle smile.
Loki shuddered violently. She swallowed the curse on the tip of her tongue and lowered her head in frustration.
Just then, the door to the fitting room on the clinic's second floor opened.
