The military vehicle had barely traveled ten meters when a red light lit up beneath it.
Yang Ming raised his hand.
The Anywhere Door opened right against the front of the vehicle.
The vehicle plunged through the door and reappeared three meters from its original position a second later, its wheels sinking into the snow.
The door burst open.
Two military doctors tumbled out.
"Everyone out!" Yang Ming shouted. "Get the general out!"
Alexei lay inside the vehicle, his transfusion line already disconnected. His chest was not moving.
Yang Ming pulled the door open and pressed his palm against the side of Alexei's neck.
There was still a pulse.
A very slow one.
"Tony, give me some light."
Tony flew onto the roof, and the reactor in his chest illuminated the interior.
Yang Ming cut open the bandages.
The wound on Alexei's neck began bleeding again.
The metal fragment hidden inside the suicide soldier was still heating up, red light spreading outward along tiny circuits.
"It's not an ordinary bomb," Tony said. "It's receiving a signal."
Yang Ming took out a scalpel and slit open the general's collar.
"Find the signal source."
"I'm looking."
"Don't just look. Shut it down."
"Your demands are always very specific."
"Because you charge a lot."
Tony's scan results projected into the air.
[Signal source: inside the suicide soldiers.] [Control mode: synchronized detonation.] [Time remaining: thirty-seven seconds.]
Steve turned one of the suicide soldiers over and pinned his shoulders down.
"They all have one?"
"All eight," Tony answered.
"Can you remove them?"
Yang Ming looked toward the vehicle.
"Yes. Save the general first."
The adjutant hurriedly said, "They'll blow up the vehicle."
"You already put the patient inside a bomb." Yang Ming took out a hemostat. "Keep your management advice to yourself now."
