"Objection overruled. I'm the boss, and I call the shots!"
Without even looking up, Yang Ming picked up his nearly empty cup of black coffee and casually shut down Selene's complaints.
"You capitalist! This is blatant exploitation!" Selene stamped her foot in anger, pointing at Maggie, who was dutifully stitching up pork beside them. "My sister's only eighteen. How can you bear to make her face this bloody mess every day?"
"If she doesn't learn, next time she'll be the one lying on the operating table getting stitched up." Yang Ming set down his coffee cup and pulled a sheet of white paper from a drawer.
"All right, enough talk. Your job now is to keep a close eye on that Clown named Jack. That kid Bruce gave me a tough assignment: find Jack a decent job without using Wayne Enterprises' resources."
Selene leaned over and glanced at the paper. "So what are you planning? Go to the chemical plant and kidnap him?"
"I'm wondering whether I should just buy that lousy chemical plant." Yang Ming rubbed his chin, considering it in all seriousness. "Falcone just paid a hundred thousand dollars in registration fees. That should cover a down payment."
"Boss, have you lost your mind?" Selene rolled her eyes hard. "That's Ace Chemicals, one of Gotham's biggest corporate cancers. There's a lot of shady business going on in there. You'd wade into that mess over a promise to some bankrupt rich kid?"
"If you accept someone's request, you see it through. What can I say? I'm a good doctor with a compassionate heart." Yang Ming sighed and tossed down his pen.
"Go keep watch. Report back whenever anything happens."
