Back in the office, half an hour had passed by the time Gu Wenze finished reading the documents on his desk.
He looked up at Qiao Hua's workstation. It was empty.
Why was Qiao Hua taking so long in the restroom?
Gu Wenze frowned slightly. He instinctively picked up his phone to call Qiao Hua, then suddenly remembered that he had confiscated hers.
Gu Wenze got up, left the office, and went to the restroom.
Just then, the new assistant happened to pass by. Gu Wenze stopped her in a low voice. "Assistant Du."
Assistant Du stopped and looked at Gu Wenze curiously. "President Gu, is there something you need?"
Gu Wenze glanced at the restroom beside him. "Go inside and see what Qiao Hua is doing."
Assistant Du found this a little strange. Did President Gu even keep tabs on his secretary's bathroom breaks?
She didn't dare ask him that to his face, though. Despite her confusion, she went into the restroom.
Before long, Assistant Du came back out. "President Gu, Qiao Hua isn't in there."
Gu Wenze's heart lurched. "What did you say?"
Seeing the change in his expression, Assistant Du spoke more cautiously. "I opened every stall and checked. There really isn't anyone inside."
Gu Wenze's breathing grew a little heavier. His expression turned stern. "Go downstairs and look for Qiao Hua right now. Find out where she went."
In all her time at the company, Assistant Du had never seen Gu Wenze look so serious. She hurriedly agreed and headed downstairs at once, setting aside her work.
Half an hour later, Assistant Du returned with bad news.
They hadn't found Qiao Hua anywhere in the company.
According to the office staff, none of them had seen Qiao Hua come downstairs that day.
