Ruan Hanli's expression stiffened briefly before she quickly recovered her radiant smile and said obediently, "Okay."
Before leaving, however, she gave Qiao Hua a meaningful look.
Lin Chao worked quickly, setting up a new workstation for her where Qiao Hua used to sit.
Through the clear glass in front of her, Ruan Hanli watched Gu Wenze and Qiao Hua talking inside the office, looking thoughtful.
"Assistant Lin, why did Wenze let Secretary Qiao share his office?" Ruan Hanli suddenly asked, then smiled curiously. "I remember Wenze hated having people too close to him."
Lin Chao smiled without answering.
That depends on who it is.
Their President Gu now wished Qiao Hua would stay as close to him as possible.
Of course, as Gu Wenze's personal assistant of many years, Lin Chao knew exactly what he could and couldn't say. He sidestepped the real issue. "Didn't President Gu explain just now? Sharing an office with Secretary Qiao makes work more convenient, so that's what he arranged."
His answer was watertight, but it did nothing to satisfy Ruan Hanli's curiosity. "But my dad's secretary doesn't share an office with him."
That's because your dad doesn't have any special relationship with his secretary, Lin Chao thought.
Their President Gu and Qiao Hua were different. Those two were legally married.
Lin Chao didn't answer that question. He simply smiled and found an excuse to leave.
Ruan Hanli turned her gaze toward Assistant Du, who was engrossed in her work nearby, her eyes shifting thoughtfully.
A moment later, she walked briskly over to Assistant Du and greeted her. "Hello, pretty lady."
Assistant Du looked up at Ruan Hanli and returned her smile.
Anyone could tell that Ruan Hanli had a close relationship with Gu Wenze. Naturally, she wasn't going to offend someone with connections.
