Shen Zhen froze. "We're leaving together?"
Qiao Hua nodded.
Shen Zhen still couldn't quite take it in. "Why do you want to leave?"
She had always thought Qiao Hua was doing well, and she could tell that Gu Wenze genuinely treated her well.
Yet now Qiao Hua was actually saying she wanted to leave.
Qiao Hua seemed to read her thoughts. "I've wanted to leave for a long time. I just hadn't found an opportunity before."
Hesitation crept into Shen Zhen's expression. "Then you and President Gu..."
Qiao Hua lowered her eyes. "There's no future for us."
She could see that Gu Wenze had changed a great deal, but the two of them could never be together in this lifetime.
Otherwise, her mission here would fail.
Shen Zhen's gaze fell to Qiao Hua's belly. "Then the baby you're carrying..."
Qiao Hua knew what Shen Zhen wanted to say and gave a casual smile. "I've already decided. Once we leave, I'll have an abortion."
She could never give birth to this child. Not in this lifetime.
Shen Zhen asked hesitantly, "Qiao Hua, have you really thought this through?"
Qiao Hua nodded, her expression utterly serious. "I've already found a way to leave. We'll just have to endure some hardship."
Shen Zhen pressed her lips together and finally made up her mind. "All right. I'll go with you."
Qiao Hua leaned close to Shen Zhen's ear and quietly told her the plan.
Over the next few days, Shen Zhen stayed at the Gu family's home, and everything remained peaceful.
Things weren't going quite so well for Gu Wenze, however.
His phone rang and stopped for the umpteenth time, followed immediately by a text: If you don't answer
He returned to his office after a meeting as usual and received a call from
