Qiao Hua paused and looked in the direction Assistant Du pointed.
She didn't recall Gu Wenze ever mentioning that those two knew each other.
"What did they say?" Qiao Hua asked, puzzled.
Assistant Du shook her head. "I was too far away to hear. I only saw President Xia give Doctor You a note."
Qiao Hua frowned. "A note?"
Assistant Du nodded. "Doctor You seemed pretty happy after he got it."
You Xiaonian had left looking ready to kill someone just moments earlier. What on earth had Xia Feiyan given him to change his mood so completely?
An inexplicable unease rose in Qiao Hua, but she couldn't put her finger on it.
On the way home, Qiao Hua finally couldn't resist asking Gu Wenze, "Did You Xiaonian and Xia Feiyan know each other before?"
Gu Wenze glanced at her. "Why are you suddenly asking?"
Qiao Hua didn't tell Gu Wenze what Assistant Du had said to her that day. Instead, she sidestepped his question. "Do they know each other or not?"
