As if he had expected Qiao Hua to ask, Gu Wenze said calmly, "Of course not."
Qiao Hua looked at him skeptically. "Then why did something happen to her today of all days?"
Gu Wenze raised an eyebrow. "You should ask Yan Yu whether he offended someone through his business dealings, and whether that's why they went after his girlfriend."
It was normal to make enemies in business, but Qiao Hua kept feeling that Gu Wenze had something to do with this.
If anyone hated Yan Yu the most, Gu Wenze would undoubtedly top the list.
As though he had guessed what Qiao Hua was thinking, Gu Wenze said unhurriedly, "If I wanted to go after Yan Yu, wouldn't it be easier to deal with him directly?"
Qiao Hua studied Gu Wenze's expression. He didn't seem to be lying.
His words might have been unpleasant, but they made sense. Going after Yan Yu would be simpler for Gu Wenze than going after Shi Yin.
After all, no one knew exactly how Yan Yu felt about Shi Yin.
Yet suspicion still lingered in Qiao Hua's mind. If Gu Wenze had nothing to do with it, how could it be such a coincidence that something had happened to Shi Yin during the first birthday banquet?
"You really didn't do it?" Qiao Hua eyed him suspiciously.
"No," Gu Wenze answered patiently. He took the phone from Qiao Hua's hand and set it on the cabinet. "I don't even know Yan Yu's girlfriend. How could I send someone after her?"
Qiao Hua thought about it and conceded the point. Even she had never met Yan Yu's girlfriend, let alone Gu Wenze.
Perhaps she really was overthinking it. Maybe this was just a coincidence.
"Can we get back to it now?" Gu Wenze asked out
