When Qiao Hua came to her senses, the chain around her leg rattled with her movements. "You're insane. You're planning to keep me locked up for that long?"
Qiao Hua had thought Gu Wenze was only trying to scare her and would set her free after a while.
But he had never intended to let her go.
A cold glint flickered in Gu Wenze's eyes. "This is the only way I can guarantee the baby's safety."
Qiao Hua bit her lip. "I already promised you I wouldn't abort the baby."
Gu Wenze's voice was firm, leaving no room for argument. "Nothing you say will help. I'm not changing my mind."
Gu Wenze had heard older people say that once a woman gave birth, she wouldn't have the heart to leave her husband.
Perhaps once Qiao Hua had the baby, she would stop thinking about leaving.
"Just stay here and behave yourself. Give birth to our baby." A threat lurked in Gu Wenze's words. "You'd better not try anything. If anything happens to the baby you're carrying, I guarantee that if you miscarry today, you'll be pregnant with my child again tomorrow."
Seeing the serious look on Gu Wenze's face, Qiao Hua broke out in goosebumps and suppressed the thought that had just begun to form.
Once he saw that his threat had worked, Gu Wenze got up and went to the bathroom to shower, his goal accomplished.
Before long, he came out of the bathroom, turned off the lights, and climbed into bed, lying down right beside Qiao Hua.
