Gu Luosheng's eyes widened. She had known there was no such thing as a free lunch. That 4.5 million wasn't going to be easy to earn.
"Let me... put up one last fight."
"What?" The man didn't catch her meaning at first.
Gu Luosheng drew a breath. "I said, Gu Luosheng isn't that easy to kill."
The next second, Gu Luosheng grabbed the pepper beside her and dumped all of it into the man's face.
Almost on instinct, Gu Luosheng bolted for the door.
"Trying to run? Do you even know who you're dealing with?" The man wiped his face and charged after Gu Luosheng in two strides.
It felt... like ten thousand horses were stampeding.
For the first time, Gu Luosheng knew what an earthquake felt like.
"Fine, I guess Gu Luosheng is pretty easy to kill after all." Just as Gu Luosheng was about to give up,
a figure flashed into view ahead of her.
Gu Luosheng leaped straight into the man's arms.
Then several gunshots rang out.
"I'm hallucinating again." Gu Luosheng tugged at the corners of her mouth. Even though she knew it wasn't real, she still gave the man's abs a good feel.
"A parting gift before I die. Worth it."
"I still want some hairy crab. Can I have some?" Gu Luosheng blinked, looking at the man expectantly.
"Sheng... Shengsheng..." The man's voice trembled, and his whole body shook uncontrollably.
He had almost been a moment too late.
He had watched as his girl was about to be killed.
Then he lowered his head and saw a clear tear slip from the corner of her eye as she slowly closed her eyes.
"Dying in your arms is worth it, even if this is an illusion."
Gu Luosheng closed her eyes and lost consciousness completely.
