The rest of the Red Tide Legion was still clearing out the remaining monsters and spore-born creatures around the Holy City, deliberately slowing its advance.
Louis led a hundred Red Tide elites clad in standard-issue red armor through the Holy City's gates ahead of them.
There were no streets inside the city. A layer of soft, slippery pink tissue lay beneath their feet. With every step, their boot soles tugged at its sticky surface, producing an almost inaudible but deeply unpleasant sound.
The air was heavy and foul. A pungent perfume filled it, masking the stench of corpses and rotting flesh constantly seeping up from below.

A torrent of gold and green poured out-Stitched Monster heavy cavalry, clearly much stronger than those outside the Holy City.
They trampled the soft ground, splashing pink slime with every step. Their roars echoed through the corridor again and again, as though they were closing in from every direction at once.
The Red Tide formation did not retreat. Red shields rose simultaneously, the heavy Tower Shields interlocking into a tight shield wall.
Shields lowered, gunstocks pressed against shoulders, and polearms extended through
