Hu Xiaotian had been born with an insatiable curiosity, so naturally he nodded eagerly. But he did not want Yan Nujiao to risk her life alongside him again. "I'll go up alone to scout things out," he said quietly. "Just wait here for me."
Yan Nujiao knew that, with her internal injuries, she would only be a burden if she followed him. She nodded. "Be careful yourself."
"Don't worry. I'll be right back," Hu Xiaotian said with a smile. He used the Golden Spider Eight Steps to climb up the wall, only to find a stone slab covering the top. He pushed hard, but it did not budge. Feeling around, he discovered that the slab was covered in carved patterns. Presumably, it was some sort of combination-lock mechanism. He had no skill at opening such locks, so he could only climb back down and tell Yan Nujiao what he had found.
After hearing him out, Yan Nujiao asked him to carry her up so she could take a look. Hu Xiaotian brought her back beneath the slab, and she illuminated its patterns with the Night-Luminescent Pearl. "There's a mechanism hidden here," she said softly. "It's a secret passed down in our family. It shouldn't be hard to unlock." She reached out and rearranged the patterns. Before long, the slab slid silently aside, revealing an opening above.
Hu Xiaotian climbed through with Yan Nujiao on his back. They found themselves in an arms repository filled with weapons of every description. Apparently, Yan Tianlu enjoyed collecting weapons, gathering them through all manner of channels until he had amassed quite a collection. Shortly after they climbed out, the slab slid back into place. The floor was as smooth as before, without the slightest sign of any change.
