The sight of those tiny insects made Hu Xiaotian's hair stand on end. The old monster had switched from spiders to other poisonous insects-this was trouble. Would that inner core still work?
As the tiny insects flew toward him, Hu Xiaotian hurriedly swung his saber up and down. Although the flying insects came closer than the spiders had, they dared not advance once they reached within two feet of him. Hu Xiaotian was overjoyed. By sheer chance, he had obtained a treasure that warded off poison and repelled insects.
Old Monster Beize watched Hu Xiaotian coldly, in no hurry to attack. His body rested against the wall as little black insects resembling earthworms crawled out of its cracks and wound around him. Soon, they formed a writhing layer of black insect armor over his body. These were Iron Thread Diamond Insects. Slender though they were, their bodies were extraordinarily tough and hard. Millions of them joined together to form an indestructible suit of outer armor.
Once Hu Xiaotian confirmed that the poisonous insects dared not approach him, his confidence surged. He raised his saber and slashed at Old Monster Beize again. Rather than meet him head-on, Old Monster Beize scuttled back and forth along the cavern walls like a spider, evading his attacks. Hu Xiaotian's blade energy release worked only intermittently, but it was terrifying nonetheless. Wherever his blade energy passed, swathes of poisonous insects were reduced to powder, filling the cavern with a heavy, rank stench.
As more and more Iron Thread Diamond Insects gathered, Old Monster Beize's body grew like a rolling snowball.
Hu Xiaotian inwardly cursed. At this rate, the old monster would become a giant towering between heaven and earth, gaining an overwhelming advantage in size.
The growing insect armor did nothing to slow Old Monster
