Truth was, I couldn't possibly write that many, but you didn't reach the target either, so we could turn the page on that one. It wasn't that Octopus broke his word. I've always been a man who follows the rules and keeps his promises.
Octopus sat all day and typed all day, but had little to show for it. Instead of widening, the gap kept shrinking as the others closed in. I was exhausted. If I wrote any more, I really would throw up. My wrist ached, my neck was stiff, and my head was swimming. I had to rest.
Because old Octopus still wanted to keep writing for a few more years, write a few more books, and spend more time with you, my brothers and sisters.
This absolutely wasn't slacking off. My brothers and sisters had supported me all along, fighting beside me from the first of the month until now.
