Xiangqin glared at him and spat, "Men really are all rotten. I thought you were different from the others, but now I see you're another lecher who tires of the old, chases the new, and lusts after pretty faces." She sounded quite aggrieved.
"Sister Xiangqin, please don't say that," Hu Xiaotian said. "Someone who didn't know better would think I'd done something to you."
Xiangqin snorted with laughter and shoved Hu Xiaotian's shoulder. The gesture looked coy, but it packed enough force to send him staggering, almost knocking him onto his backside. "You're awful," she simpered. "Even if you did want to do something to me, I wouldn't be afraid." She produced a handkerchief from somewhere, covered her mouth and nose, and assumed an expression of exquisite bashfulness before unleashing a string of laughs that rivaled a screech owl's cries.
Her laughter sent a chill down Hu Xiaotian's spine. He gave two dry chuckles of his own and lowered himself onto a stone stool in the courtyard. You might not be afraid, but I am. I'm genuinely scared you'll get so worked up that you force yourself on me. Then I wouldn't even have anywhere to go cry.
Xiangqin sidled over and lowered her enormous backside onto the stone stool opposite him with a sweeping motion. Hu Xiaotian couldn't help worrying that the stool was so small it might disappear entirely inside her. She cast him a coquettish glance and fluttered her scarlet handkerchief seductively. A powerful fragrance assaulted his nose, making his head swim and nearly driving the real purpose of his visit from his mind.
"What do you want with our young lady?"
Only then did Hu Xiaotian remember his errand. He hurriedly took out the letter, which his grip had already left rather crumpled.
Xiangqin snatched it
