Qiqi asked, "What do you want me to do?"

Suddenly, he drew something from beside the bed-a shard of porcelain as sharp as a knife. Raising his hand, he slashed it down across Qiqi's shoulder. She sucked in a breath of pain and looked down to find a bloody gash across her shoulder.
Long Xuan'en burst into wild laughter, but slipped the porcelain shard into Qiqi's hand. She took it, her bright eyes shifting as she understood at once. Grabbing Long Xuan'en's collar with one hand, she raised the other and aimed the point of the shard at his heart, poised to plunge it down.
Behind her came the panicked voice of the old eunuch Wang Qian. "Little Princess, you mustn't..."
At the same moment, Long Yelin roared, "Qiqi, stop!"
