Hu Xiaotian looked out and saw two men approaching from a distance. Although both wore Han clothing, their appearance clearly marked them as Black Hu men. One of them said, "We saw that horse just a moment ago. How has it vanished again?"
The other said, "The innkeeper is far too harsh. He makes us search around here without a wink of sleep while he goes back to bed himself."
Both spoke the Hu language, so Hu Xiaotian naturally understood nothing. As they passed beneath the tree, he launched himself down, seized their heads with both hands, and smashed them together. Worried they might fight back, he put all his strength into it. Thud! The two Black Hu men's heads collided heavily, and the blow actually burst their skulls, splattering their brains and killing them outright.
Hu Xiaotian had not intended to go on a killing spree. He had only meant to knock them unconscious, but he could no longer precisely control the force of his blows.
