Huo Shengnan shook her head. So much for avoiding needless slaughter. Once these men sprang into action, their bloodlust was anything but ordinary.
Hu Xiaotian rushed forward at once, stripped the clothes off one of the Black Hu Warriors, and changed into them. Tonight had been nothing but taking clothes off and putting them on again.
Zong Tang handed out the weapons he had brought, and Huo Shengnan picked out another iron-framed bow that felt right in her hands.
Standing nearby, Dong Tianjiang watched Hu Xiaotian with a broad smile. "Actually, you look quite good in a skirt."
His gaze sent a chill down Hu Xiaotian's spine. Hu Xiaotian glared at him with wide eyes. "Keep looking at me like that, and we're going to fall out!" Dong Tianjiang looked aggrieved. "I'm telling the truth!"
Clink! Zong Tang had successfully opened the brass lock on Wild Goose Tower's main door. The four reassigned their tasks: Dong Tianjiang would keep watch outside, while Hu Xiaotian and the other two went inside to search for evidence.
The three entered Wild Goose Tower through the main door. Since it had been locked from the outside, there probably was no one living inside. After they shut the door, Huo Shengnan's and Zong Tang's eyes still needed time to adjust to the darkness, but Hu Xiaotian could see everything clearly. He spread his arms to stop them both!
Hu Xiaotian lowered his voice. "There are traps!"
Huo Shengnan and Zong Tang exchanged a glance. Neither had eyesight as keen as Hu Xiaotian's. Their eyes had only just adjusted to the darkness, and even then, they could make out little more than rough outlines. They could not see any details at all.
Zong Tang took out a brass tube and unscrewed the cap at its top.
