Hu Xiaotian looked up. The guard calling him was the very one he had talked back to earlier. Pointing at his own nose, Hu Xiaotian asked, "Me?"
The guard nodded. "Yes, you, the ugliest one!"
Hu Xiaotian cursed inwardly. Am I that damned ugly? This isn't my real face. If I showed you what I really looked like, my good looks would knock you dead! He slowly rose to his feet. Luo Shifeng reminded him in a low voice, "Be careful, Brother Huo!"
Hu Xiaotian smiled calmly. "It's fine. I haven't done anything that offends heaven and reason." He strode toward the guard.
The guard said, "Come with me!"
Hu Xiaotian had already guessed that the fellow most likely wanted to lure him away and find somewhere deserted to take revenge. That suited him perfectly. He had wanted to slip away anyway. Following the guard around to the materials yard ahead, he saw the guard point at a stack of gray bricks on the ground. "Pick those up and help me take them over there."
Hu Xiaotian bent down. The guard whipped out an iron rod with lightning speed and brought it down viciously toward the back of his head.
Hearing the rush of air behind his head, Hu Xiaotian knew the fellow had launched his attack. He shifted his body, reached back to seize the end of the rod, and wrenched it from the guard's grasp. The guard had never imagined Hu Xiaotian could be so formidable. A blurred shadow flashed before his eyes, and Hu Xiaotian clamped a hand over his mouth, then rammed the iron rod hard into his ribs. The guard gave a muffled groan and dropped to his knees before him. Hu Xiaotian sneered. "You blind fool. Trying to get revenge on me?"
