New Year's Eve.
Sitting in the living room, Jiang Nian saw the people the housekeeper had shown in and sprang to her feet, hurrying over with a look of delighted surprise.
"Godmother! Godfather! Jici! You're here?"

For this year's Spring Festival, Song Ling wanted to celebrate with her best friend, Jiang Xiyuan, so she had brought her husband and son to the Jiang Family home.

After hugging Song Ling, she smiled at Song Father and the others. "Shall we head inside? Mom and Dad have been waiting for ages."
She led them inside, chatting as they went.
"Godfather, Dad's been talking for ages about battling it out with you over a chessboard. As soon as he heard you were coming, he ran off to get it. There's no escaping today."
Song Father raised his eyebrows meaningfully. "Just wait. Your dad will get so mad he'll carry it away again."
It happened every year. He was the one who started out all excited, and he was also the one who couldn't take losing.
Coming downstairs, Jiang Father happened to hear Song Father's teasing, and his eyebrows shot up in indignation.
"Song Zhiyao, what nonsense are you telling my daughter? Am I that kind of person?!"
He was ruining his image in his daughter's eyes!
Song Zhiyao folded his arms and ruthlessly exposed him with a curl of his lips.
