Ling Xi's eyes widened in horror, his pupils trembling.
"You, you..."
His breathing grew rapid and uneven, as though he were struggling for air, or holding back sobs about to erupt. "You never intended to forgive Qin Zaiye, did you? All that talk about giving me a chance-you were just toying with me from the very beginning!"
Ji Ting said calmly, "Yes, I never intended to forgive Qin Zaiye. But as for giving you a chance..."
"Then what gives you the right to call me useless?" Ling Xi cut him off harshly, pouring all his fury onto him. "What gives you the right to blame me for your cruelty? You're the narrow-minded one who won't let go of someone else's little mistake, and now you're trying to hold me hostage with your twisted logic! Don't you think that's utterly shameless?!"
Faced with his hoarse accusations, Ji Ting's expression remained inscrutable and cold, as though not a single ripple stirred within him.
He looked at Ling Xi's face, flushed red with anger, and remained silent for a long moment before saying slowly, "All those things you've said will only make me feel more negatively toward Qin Zaiye. If I were him, I would deeply regret telling you about this."
"Qin Zaiye isn't you." Ling Xi's lips trembled with anger. "He wouldn't take his anger out on someone else without caring who was right or wrong."
Ji Ting said evenly, "Then what if I tell him that the reason he didn't get a letter of forgiveness was because of your accusations against me?"
"Do you think he'll believe you?"
As those words fell, a faint smile suddenly curved Ji Ting's lips. "It's enough that you believe it."
With that, he walked out of the Dining Room.
