By the time Ji Ting got home, it was already dark.
After coming inside, he headed to his room to get something, only to run into Ling Xi coming down the stairs.
Ever since their falling-out last time, a heavy shadow had hung over Ling Xi's heart. The moment he saw Ji Ting, his expression darkened.
Ji Ting's expression, however, didn't change at all. As though Ling Xi didn't exist, he walked past him and went straight upstairs.
"Ji Ting."
Ling Xi called out to stop him, but his own body tensed with nerves.
He took several deep breaths, clenching his fingers hard at his sides. "Don't think you can..."
Click. A door opened.
Bang. A door closed.
Ling Xi's breath caught. He turned to look, only to find Ji Ting's bedroom door already shut.
He gritted his teeth, his eyes full of resentment and hurt. Even after an unknown stretch of time, he was still staring fixedly at that tightly closed door.
One day, he would make Ji Ting regret treating him like this!
That evening, Ji Yanzhi didn't get home until nine.
He changed his clothes after coming in, then went to his study. He only returned to his bedroom when it was nearly time for bed.
The moment Ji Yanzhi entered the bedroom, he saw Ji Ting holding a book. Emblazoned across its cover were the words "Perfect-score essays for the college entrance exam."
He paused, then frowned. "Why are you reading perfect-score essays?"
Ji Ting lowered the book and looked at him in confusion. "To prepare for the college entrance exam. You told me to. Did you forget?"
Math, physics, and chemistry certainly weren't a problem for Ji Ting, but he had always struggled with expressing himself through language, making essay writing something of a disaster
