Captain Hu had barely brought Ji Shize downstairs when his lawyer arrived.
"Hello, I'm Director Ji's personal lawyer. My surname is Zhao. May I see the compulsory summons notice?"
Captain Hu turned and gestured. "Give it to him."
An officer handed over the notice. After reading it, Lawyer Zhao said, "Since this is a compulsory summons, questioning must not exceed twelve hours, and my client must not be subjected to consecutive summonses."
Captain Hu looked a little annoyed, but he merely changed his tone. "Quite right. Get in the car first."
Lawyer Zhao looked at Ji Shize. "Director Ji, I'll follow right behind you in my car."
"Mm."
Once everyone was in the cars, the police vehicle drove out of Shili.
A dozen minutes later, Lawyer Zhao frowned as he followed behind. Why were they heading east the whole way? This clearly wasn't the way to the Municipal Public Security Bureau.
Before he could figure it out, the police vehicle ahead suddenly stopped.
Three people got out of a car across the road and walked briskly toward them. Captain Hu also got out of the police vehicle. When the two sides met, they skipped even the greetings. "We've brought Ji Shize. We'll leave the rest to you."
"Thanks for your efforts."
Without another word, Ji Shize was pulled out of the vehicle.
"Wasn't I supposed to go to the Municipal Public Security Bureau to assist with the investigation? Where are you taking me?" Ji Shize demanded sternly.
The three newcomers wore no uniforms and showed no identification. They seized his arms and forcibly marched him across the road.
Lawyer Zhao hurried out of his car and shouted, "Wait! Where are you taking my client? Stop!"
No matter how much he shouted, the three bundled Ji Shize straight into their car
