That sounded awfully serious. Could it really be just because the two of them had said a few things about Shen Mu Lan...

Something flashed through Ji Yanzhi's mind, so fast he almost missed it.
His eyes shifted stiffly as he stared blankly at Ji Ting. "Were you... were you just... bad-mouthing Shen Mu Lan?" He sounded more incredulous with every word, as though he were meeting Ji Ting for the first time. "You actually know how to bad-mouth people?"
Ji Ting felt as though his heart had been pressed against a sheet of freezing iron. Uncomfortable as it was, he did not dodge the question. "If you think I offended Mr. Shen, I can apologize to him in person."
"Who told you to apologize to him? What's wrong with bad-mouthing Shen Mu Lan? If you haven't had your fill, I'll join you."
Ji Ting immediately frowned in disagreement. "How can we just malign him like that? Besides, he's the person you love. You should be defending him."
Ji Yanzhi's eyes widened as though something had suddenly set him off, his reaction almost exaggerated. "Who told you I love him-"
"Political Commissar Shen. He said you two got together last year." Ji Ting lowered his eyes, his voice dropping too. "It's actually a good thing. You're well suited to each other."
"Suited..." Blood rushed to Ji Yanzhi's head. His throat seized up for a long moment before he could speak. "That's what you think? You honestly think we're well suited to each other?!"
"Whether you're suited to each other isn't really for me to judge. That's for the two of you to decide."
