"Um, Ji Yanzhi should be here soon." Shen Mu Lan cleared his throat awkwardly. "I'll go get the food ready."
Sun Ye stood up with him. "I'll help."
"No need. You've been working all day. Watch some TV."
Despite what he said, Sun Ye still followed him into the kitchen.
A little over half an hour later, Ji Yanzhi's car pulled into the courtyard of the Mulan Cloud Residence.
Ji Yanzhi told his driver to go home for the day rather than wait to drive him back, then took a bottle of red wine from the trunk.
When he came inside, Shen Mu Lan was just setting the lamb on the table.
"You really are a pampered young master. You show up just in time to eat."
Ji Yanzhi ignored his dig. "I brought wine. Where's your decanter?"
Shen Mu Lan turned to get it from the counter. He had just opened the cabinet when Sun Ye came out of the kitchen carrying a copper hot pot filled with charcoal.
Seeing Ji Yanzhi, he greeted him naturally. "Director Ji, long time no see."
Ji Yanzhi raised an eyebrow in surprise. Before he could speak, Shen Mu Lan hurried out from behind the counter, looking anxious. "Hey, careful! Don't burn yourself."
"It's fine." Sun Ye set the copper hot pot steadily in the center of the table and adjusted its position a little. "There. We can eat now."
Shen Mu Lan's gaze was still lingering on him when Ji Yanzhi spoke dryly. "Shen Mu Lan, stop staring. Where's the decanter?"
Shen Mu Lan seemed so startled that he stammered. "Who-who's staring? I'm getting it for you, aren't I?"
Ji Yanzhi shot Sun Ye a meaningful glance, but the other man seemed oblivious, his eyes almost asking what was wrong.
