After leaving Shili, Ji Yanzhi drove straight to the Jiang family's old residence.
The car glided through the ornate gates. Just as he rounded a bend, Ji Yanzhi's gaze caught on a familiar figure beside the flower bed. "Ji Ear, what are you doing here?"
Ji Ting turned at the sound of his voice, the midday sunlight falling across one side of his face. "I came out to wait for you."

Ji Yanzhi smiled and gently poked Chestnut's head. "You little thing. You certainly know how to find a cozy spot."
Instead of ducking away, Chestnut rubbed a little head against Ji Yanzhi's finger, letting out a soft purr.
"Did you sort everything out with Wang Mian?" Ji Ting asked.
"Yes. Just a minor procedural matter," Ji Ting said succinctly. "One signature, and it was done."
Ji Ting studied his expression. "Why do I feel like you're especially happy?"
"Am I?" Ji Yanzhi raised his brows slightly. "Maybe it's because you were waiting for me as soon as I got back."
At that, Ji Ting said earnestly, "If you like it, I'll wait by the door for you more often."
"I couldn't bear to let you do that." Ji Yanzhi immediately took his slightly chilled hand, enclosing it in his warm palm. "It's cold outside. Once or twice now and then is more than enough to make me happy."
