Before long, the group returned to the corridor outside the luxury suite.
"Is everyone here?"
Li Wei glanced around at them, then checked his watch. Just then, a muffled bang came from inside, sounding rather like a firecracker. Everyone froze at the sound.
"What was that?"
"A gunshot?"
"All right, everyone, there's no need to panic."
Li Wei waved a hand.
"It was just an experiment... let's go inside."
Puzzled, they followed Li Wei into the room and saw the Chief Inspector standing in the bedroom with a gun in his hand. At the sight of Li Wei, he hurriedly waved to him.
"Mr. Li Wei, how was it?"
"About what I expected."
Li Wei nodded, gestured for the Chief Inspector to put the gun down, then turned to the others and sighed.
"All right. I brought everyone here for one reason: we can close the case."
"Huh?"
"Close the case?"
Everyone was stunned by Li Wei's answer. Only a single morning had passed, and the case was already closed?
Li Wei paid no attention to their reactions and simply continued.
"Let's review the entire case. This morning, the maid, Miss Chris, went to wake Lady Porto and discovered that she'd been killed. She called the butler, Mr. Byrne, who sent someone to fetch the Chief Inspector, who in turn sent someone to find me... Now, Miss Chris, did anyone else enter the scene after you discovered Lady Porto's death?"
"Mr. Byrne went in to check."
"But he didn't go near the victim, did he?"
"No."
"Are you sure?"
"I'm sure. Mr. Byrne only looked at the mistress from the doorway, then immediately came back out."
"Good. Did you record that?"
Li Wei looked at the sailor beside him, who was holding a recorder half as tall as a person.
