"It's almost impossible to imagine..."
In the captain's cabin, the captain wore an expression of disbelief after hearing Li Wei's account.
To be fair, he thought Li Wei's story sounded more like a drunkard's ramblings, but the facts did not support that conclusion. Although the liner had swerved away from the iceberg in time, it had still suffered a long, narrow breach below its port side. Fortunately, the workers had sealed it as quickly as possible, preventing a major disaster.
Afterward, the captain had also ordered a thorough inspection of the entire liner. After all, an unresponsive rudder and a propulsion system that refused to obey were potentially fatal problems. They had to identify the underlying danger. Yet after a complete inspection, the only conclusion was that the propulsion system was essentially sound. Even the occasional minor fault they found could not have caused the entire ship to go out of control.
Moreover, control of the ship really had returned after the message arrived from the mail hold. That left them no choice but to believe Li Wei's ramblings... especially with the Second Mate there to corroborate his account.
Even if it still seemed utterly inconceivable.
"Mr. Detective, are you saying that whoever did this was targeting our ship?"
The Second Mate sat beside them, looking rather astonished. Li Wei nodded as he fiddled with the wreckage of the model ship.
"That's right. That seems to be the case for now. After all, wasn't the model inside the bottle a replica of the North Star? And you saw it yourselves. This model was incredibly detailed. It doesn't look like a prank."
As he spoke, Li Wei showed the others the model. Although his shot had reduced it to wreckage, the surviving pieces still displayed extraordinary craftsmanship. Not only was every
