The night was pitch-black, and rain poured down.

The mercenaries drove their horses at a gallop, charging toward the train ahead.

Lightning flashed, and thunder roared.

As the thunder sounded, several mercenaries at the rear of the group shuddered, then toppled straight off their horses.

But no one noticed this strange sight. All the mercenaries could see was the train drawing closer before them. In the darkness of the night, even visibility was uncertain. Worse still, the pounding rain and howling wind muffled the sounds around them.
