At first, the thugs had been certain their operation would succeed. A few minor things had gone wrong along the way, but they had still intercepted their target in time. All that remained was to finish their assignment.
As for this pretty boy, the thugs saw him as utterly worthless-just a weak man from the Empire. A few threats would be enough to bring him down without any trouble.
But... that was not how things turned out.
The thugs drew their weapons, raised their guns, and then-gunfire rang out.
"Bang!"
Ricocheting bullets tore through the crowd. Amid cries of pain, the thugs dropped their guns one after another. Clutching their right hands, they stared at Li Wei with wide eyes, shocked and uncertain. He still stood straight before them, his left hand resting on his cane and a gun in his right.
"Damn it, get him!"
With no time to figure out how Li Wei had done it, the thugs' leader roared, and the men lunged at Li Wei from every direction.
Something was wrong!
Li Wei raised an eyebrow at the sight. At first, he had thought they were merely kidnappers. But their willingness to face death immediately told him that he seemed to have been dragged into something considerably more troublesome. Their reckless charge alone made it clear that they were not people he could easily frighten off.
In that case, there was no other choice.
With that thought, Li Wei made up his mind. He stepped forward, blocking Anna's view. Then time began to slow.
Li Wei released his cane with his left hand, reached to his waist, and drew his other gun, the Punisher. Then he raised its muzzle and took aim at his enemies.
Spreading his arms, Li Wei spun in place as though dancing.
