Led by the maid, the group arrived at the dining room.
Once inside, Li Wei soon spotted George Rogers sitting at the head of the table. A woman sat beside him, her face pale and her expression indifferent, as though none of this concerned her.
"Welcome to Blackwood Mansion."
George chuckled as he looked at the group, then rose and gestured in welcome.
"Please, sit."
The group took their seats along either side of the dining table. George looked them over, then nodded to the female lawyer.
"Since you've already met Miss Emma, I assume you now have some idea of the puzzle?"
"Indeed, though it's a strange one."
The short, stout detective nodded before continuing.
"But I still have a question."
"Please, go ahead."
"What about a time limit? Is there none? If so, could we stay here for the rest of our lives?"
"Ah, a time limit. That is indeed an issue."
George did not seem surprised.
"Actually, I found that rather strange myself, but..."
"But?"
"I'll let you hear it for yourselves."
As he spoke, George snapped his fingers. The butler standing beside him took out a sheet of paper and began to read.
"Enjoy to your heart's content the feast that begins in the pitch-black night,
The last celebration of this world, a banquet for the soul.
When the first ray of dawn unfurls, the sweet dream shall end,
Whoever opens the door to the Dark Abyss shall gain everything."
"What does that mean?"
After hearing the butler read it out, the tall, thin detective immediately frowned. George shook his head.
"I don't know either."
"You don't know either?"
"My wife and I found this letter tucked into the gap beneath our door when we left our room. But I don't know who wrote it, and
