After sending Anthony to investigate the southern border, Li Wei drove out of Fog City early the next morning and arrived at the logging site where the body had been found.
Li Wei was quite famous in Fog City. When the logging supervisor saw him, he was as excited as if he had met a movie star.
"I never imagined you would come in person, Sir Li Wei! What an honor!"
"No need to be so polite."
Shaking the supervisor's hand, Li Wei silently eyed the stack of copies of The Explorer beside him. Hmm, it seems these loggers pass their idle hours reading all those 'scandalous stories' about me.
"You came because of that body, didn't you? Was it some kind of monster? I said there was something strange about the body when we found it..."
"I'm just here to look into the situation and investigate some clues. I don't have any theories yet."
Li Wei hurriedly cut him off. This man seemed to be an avid enthusiast of the supernatural, too.
"First, tell me what happened when you found the body."
"Oh, certainly."
The supervisor was a burly, rough-looking man. He chuckled, sat down in his chair, and collected his thoughts before explaining the situation to Li Wei.
Although this was a logging site, its output was not particularly high. This world had followed the path of steam technology, but its fuel was coal essence. The trees here were mainly used to make furniture and similar items, so output was relatively low, and the work was not especially strenuous.
This had been their third routine patrol since spring began. Their main purpose was to check for fires and see whether they could bag some game to improve their meals. Following their patrol routes, the workers split into groups
