Sophia was somewhat uneasy about Li Wei's invitation, but once he assured her that he and the others would keep her safe, she immediately forgot the danger and readily agreed to his request. She did not even notice Harold's meaningful glances.

Well, sometimes having a diehard fan was pretty useful.

Logically, it was already late, and they should have rested for the night before setting out the next day. Li Wei did not care, though. It was night here no matter when they woke up, so he ignored the time entirely and decided to leave.

"Mr. Harold told me that people here used to catch fish from the lake to supply the town. Their income wasn't very high, but it was quite steady. Then my grandfather suddenly came here and led them in doing some terrible things. After that, the fishermen could catch not only fish, but all sorts of gold, jewels, and jewelry..."

"Huh? Why?"

Katie's interest immediately perked up. Sure enough, no woman could resist jewels and jewelry.

"I don't know either."
