Li Wei had once said that all fear stemmed from insufficient firepower.
But now, that statement needed a little revision.
"So, you're really not going in?"
"No, no, no!"
At Li Wei's question, Katie shook her head like a rattle.
"I'm absolutely not going in! Not even if you kill me!"
"Haaah..."
Watching Katie shake her head furiously, Li Wei was at a loss for words. They were standing outside the gates of the Academy on the western side of the city. It looked exceedingly lavish, more like an art museum than a school.
At first, Katie had been quite excited, even volunteering to lead the way-until she opened the Academy gates and saw a ghost float past her eyes.
Then she had ended up like this.
"Come to think of it, why are you afraid of ghosts?"
Watching Katie tremble, Li Wei sighed helplessly and asked. She had seen ghosts with him several times already, so why was she always afraid of them? Was it simply because she couldn't hit them?
"Ugh... because they're scary, aren't they?"
"What's scary about them?"
Li Wei genuinely wanted to know what Katie's definition of "scary" was.
"...Because ghosts can come out of anywhere..."
"Ah..."
Well, Katie wasn't wrong. They were ghosts, after all. Naturally, they could ignore the laws of physics.
"But monsters can come out of anywhere too, and I've never seen you scared of them."
Li Wei still remembered how, during their investigation of the Monastery, a monster had ambushed Katie from behind and grabbed her. It had merely startled her, and then she had dragged the unlucky monster out.
"How is that the same?"
Katie scowled and glared at Li Wei.
"An attack from somewhere something can actually come out of isn't scary at all. I can keep track
