The river churned, and the Little Mermaid poked her head out, looking over curiously. When she spotted Li Wei, a delighted smile spread across her face.
"Hey, little one. How are you doing?"
Li Wei raised a hand to greet the Little Mermaid, who grinned and nodded.
The Old Butler's eyes widened in surprise at the sight.
"How astonishing-is this a Water Sprite?"
The Old Butler had heard all sorts of stories over his long life, and he naturally knew about Water Sprites. This was simply his first time seeing one that actually existed.
As for the little one's circumstances, Li Wei had already explained them to the Old Butler on their way here. He had been rather taken aback, never imagining that these gangsters could get their hands on such a mysterious creature.
The Little Mermaid grew a little nervous at the sight of the Old Butler. She hid behind Li Wei, peeking out at him. The Old Butler gazed at her with mixed emotions, then sighed.
"I remember hearing long ago that Water Sprites were spirits of the water, and that every river and every lake had one... I never imagined I would actually meet one."

Li Wei reached out and stroked the Little Mermaid's hair. Her hair was rather strange, now that he thought about it. When ordinary people's hair was soaked and then exposed to the air, it tended to clump and tangle together. But the Little Mermaid's hair was like something out of a shampoo commercial. Even after being submerged all this time, it felt silky and light, without a single tangle.
