Thunder rolled without pause, and torrential rain poured down, scouring the ground before him.

A black cat slipped beneath the eaves and raced ahead through the curtain of rain.

As expected, evidence was still what mattered most.

Li Wei pondered this as he controlled the Black Cat Doll.

But this weather really couldn't be less cooperative.

Looking at the rain all around him, Li Wei sighed inwardly. Blizzards and downpours could easily destroy evidence, especially things like footprints.

Now all I could do was see whether my deductions were right.

Li Wei made the Black Cat Doll leap up onto the second-floor roof and surveyed the surroundings. Normally, the Bird Doll would have been a better choice, but even a bird couldn't fly in this weather. He had to settle for a cat instead. It wouldn't make much difference anyway.

Behind the main house lay the hedge maze, currently in a rather disordered state. That was only natural. The Old Butler had said that the downpour had arrived before work on the maze was finished, leaving them no choice but to leave it as it was.

There were also two gardens in front of the main house, though unlike the maze, these were simply decorative arrangements of flower beds and greenery. A carriage stood beside the eastern wing, with the stables nearby. Clearly, it was there for the household's use.

Li Wei's car was parked in a corner of the square in front of the main house.

Li Wei guided the black cat through a sweep of the surroundings, taking in the entire Manor, then made the Black Cat Doll leap down again and follow the stables around to the other side of the hedge maze.
