Although Li Wei had no idea what was going on with Professor Andrew, he still intended to visit the Royal Academy of Medicine. Of course, not just anyone could walk into the Royal Academy of Medicine whenever they pleased. For Li Wei, however, it was a different matter.
While helping Lestrade conduct scientific investigations for the Fog City Police Station, Li Wei had become acquainted with Professor Henry, an anthropologist at the Royal Academy of Medicine. In fact, Lestrade had nothing but praise for these anthropology professors. They really had helped the police determine the causes of death of several victims.
For instance, there had once been a place where homeless people frequently died without any wounds on their bodies. Many people claimed it was a curse. Several police investigations failed to uncover the cause, but after the bodies were sent to the Royal Academy of Medicine, the academy eventually reported that they had died of poisoning. They even helpfully specified the poison involved.
Following this lead, the police discovered that a nearby steam factory was secretly releasing toxic exhaust at night. Because the site was on relatively high ground, it was easily enveloped by the fumes. As dawn approached, the factory would stop releasing the exhaust, and the remaining fumes would disperse, naturally leaving nothing to be found.
There had been several similar cases, and by now, Lestrade trusted these anthropologists a great deal. Li Wei also occasionally chatted with them about applying anthropology to criminal investigations. As a result, some anthropologists were already considering shifting their research in that direction. After all, researchers in the same field inevitably varied in ability. Some eventually felt they could no longer keep up with their peers, so they simply switched tracks and started over.
Li Wei naturally welcomed this. All he
