For the army of the Kingdom of Kront, this day had been an absolute nightmare.
First, their assault on Blazing Sun Fortress in the Duchy of Tiris had been repelled outright by Empire forces that appeared without warning. Of the fifty-seven thousand troops in the vanguard, fewer than twenty thousand survived!
Not only that, but on that very same day, the Empire's Royal Navy dispatched its Fifth Fleet across the Far Northern Sea to bombard Delai, the Kingdom of Kront's second-largest port city, completely blockading its northern shipping routes!
The Kingdom of Kront's General Staff was stunned when it received the news.
When they first drew up their plans, they had mainly considered enemies that shared a border with their country, such as the Olucci Empire, Francis, and the Duchy of Tiris. The Far Northern Sea separated the Empire from the Kingdom of Kront, and the Duchy of Tiris served as a buffer, so the General Staff had initially given little consideration to that front.
At most, they had made minor adjustments to ensure they could counter an Empire invasion after occupying the Duchy of Tiris.
They had never expected that, while the other countries were loudly announcing their intentions to mobilize for war, the Empire had already quietly prepared to strike!
In other words, the Empire's iron-fisted Queen had decided long ago to fight this war!
This came as a tremendous shock to the Kingdom of Kront. Facing attacks on two fronts was troublesome enough, but the Empire had struck first, turning it into a three-front assault. Once the Olucci Empire and Francis heard the news, they would undoubtedly be even more eager!
