For the Cront troops at the front, this was another sleepless night.

Not because they had sensed anything coming, but because-

"Where the hell did the codebook go?!"

General Auge slammed his hand on the table in fury, glaring viciously at his adjutant. The codebook's sudden disappearance was a serious problem. As soon as he learned of it, he ordered the entire camp sealed off and sent men to search it section by section, but they could not find it anywhere.

The circumstances of its disappearance were even more baffling. According to the communications soldier, he had merely turned around for a moment, and the codebook was gone.

How was that possible? Two soldiers stood guard outside the communications room, and three more were on duty inside. There was no way it could simply disappear. Unless there was a mole among them!

A spy!

At that thought, General Auge felt as though everything had suddenly become clear. That's right! That must be it! That must be it! Why were my frontline positions attacked without any warning? There must be a spy inside my army!

Only that could explain how the enemy had pinpointed his antiaircraft positions so precisely! And now the missing codebook-it had to be a spy!

General Auge immediately ordered a search of the entire camp. They had to find that spy!

Naturally, the communications room's guards and operators were the first to suffer. They were locked up and subjected to brutal interrogation, but no matter how badly they were tortured, they insisted they had no idea where the codebook was.

General Auge did not believe their story, of course. Even the transceiver had been damaged. That was certainly no coincidence. The fellow actually claimed he had spotted a cockroach while drinking coffee and accidentally spat his coffee
