Elizabeth was slapped awake by Katie.
When the young girl couldn't wake her by calling to her, she went right up and unleashed a flurry of slaps across her face until Elizabeth opened her eyes.
She had no choice but to open them. Her face burned, and she felt as though her skin was about to split under the blows. Even a demon wouldn't be this rough.
"Phew... Miss Elizabeth, you're awake."
Katie only breathed a sigh of relief when she saw Elizabeth open her eyes.
"Miss Katie..."
Elizabeth's head still felt muddled. She couldn't tell whether it was from her earlier ordeal or the slapping.
"Are you all right?"
"I... um... sorry..."
Elizabeth took a deep breath and felt a little more clearheaded. Then she raised her head and looked around.
It was the same church as before, with virtually nothing changed.
