Li Wei had wondered whether, after laying the body to rest and fixing the bug in that place, he would return to his own world.
But no such luck awaited him. At least, when the Eye of the Sky returned to Fog City, all he saw was a city engulfed in battle and smoke.
"Things look bad."
Li Wei frowned at the black smoke rising all over Fog City. If nothing else, the fires in the direction of the Royal Palace said more than enough.
"How strange."
Lieutenant Horn looked down at the battlefield, frowning as well.
"Where are our Mecha? Our Air Fortresses? Where did they all go? Why haven't they appeared?"
At Lieutenant Horn's questions, Li Wei raised an eyebrow.
"Let me explain again. Although this place looks a lot like our world, it isn't our world. Perhaps Mecha don't even exist here."
"No Mecha?"
His explanation surprised everyone.
"Then how do they fight?"
"You're asking me, but I don't know either..."
Li Wei spread his hands helplessly, then turned to Mariana.
"Ensign Mariana, open communications on all frequencies and see if you can pick up any signals. We'll head to the Royal Palace and take a look first."
As he spoke, Li Wei glanced toward the distant Clock Tower. But in this world, it wasn't his home. Judging by the hole blasted through it, this world's Clock Tower seemed to be nothing more than a clock tower.
That actually put Li Wei at ease. At least it suggested that there was no version of him in this world.
When the Eye of the Sky reached the airspace above the Royal Palace, they could see the Kingdom of Kront's army intensifying its assault. The Empire's soldiers were fighting desperately to hold them off. Although their advantageous position had
