Light snow fell outside.
Miller Schneider sat in his tent beside a blazing stove, the coffeepot on top giving off an enticing aroma. Anywhere else, Miller would have enjoyed all of this. As an adventurer, he loved taking risks, exploring the world, and seeking out and excavating ancient sites that were unknown or had vanished into historical legend.
And he had indeed made discoveries, enough to establish himself as an expert in the field.
But Miller had never expected that this would lead him down such a troublesome path.
Those damned Cront soldiers!
Just thinking about them made Miller furious. When he first received the invitation from the Cront government, he had been rather surprised, but the objective of the commission had greatly tempted him. The Cront government wanted him to lead a team to Francis and find the legendary home of the Holy Maiden Clan.
He had to admit that it was an excellent commission for him. He had always wanted to follow in the footsteps of the Twelve Knights and uncover their past and their history. But Francis had previously been an enemy nation, and Miller had never imagined he would go there. Now, however, Francis had become part of Cront, and he could finally come here to search for the legendary Holy Maiden's Castle, just as he had always wished.
But now he regretted it.
