Over the next two days, the two couples seemed to settle down somewhat. Li Wei continued taking the girls out to enjoy themselves. They went boating by the shore and fishing on a nearby island, where they also planned to have a barbecue.
The girls found fishing a little too trying for their patience, but Li Wei was thoroughly enjoying himself. Little Mermaid dove straight to the seabed and brought back a heap of shellfish, then sat opening shells with the girls. They seemed to be competing to see who could find the biggest, roundest pearl. This was probably this era's version of opening blind boxes.
As long as the girls were having fun, Li Wei didn't mind. He fished leisurely nearby while Erin began preparing what they would need for the evening barbecue. How much they would have to eat depended on how much good stuff he could catch.
Li Wei was only an average fisherman, but his luck was pretty good. Fish weren't biting nonstop, but he caught one every so often. At the very least, dinner was definitely taken care of.
While everyone was having fun, a small incident occurred.
Perhaps the girls were enjoying themselves so much that they attracted a small shadow swimming over from nearby. It was an adorable sea otter, floating on its back in its signature pose. It raised its head curiously to look at them.
"Wow, Daddy, look! It's so cute!"
Alice's eyes lit up at the sight of the sea otter, and Sophia stared at it with wide, unblinking eyes. Seeing their reactions, Little Mermaid giggled and beckoned to the otter. It rolled over and swam up to them, studying them curiously with its round little black eyes.
Betty the Puppy came over as well and gave the sea otter
