When Li Wei walked into the tavern, he quickly realized something was wrong.
Normally, a tavern like this would have been bustling and noisy, full of music and cheers. Now, however, it was silent. Tables, chairs, and stools lay overturned nearby, and when Li Wei looked up, he could even see several human-shaped indentations in the wall-
"What happened?"
Li Wei tapped his cane against the floor and looked at Katie. He did not need to guess who had caused all this. As for the reason-well, he had a pretty good idea of that, too.
Katie giggled at his question, while Alice hurriedly spoke up.
"Katie said she wanted to join them on their dragon hunt, and then those people laughed at her for being a little girl, and then-"
"All right, I get it."
Li Wei did not need to hear the rest to know how it had ended, and the outcome hardly surprised him. Perhaps Katie had gotten so excited about fighting because this world's adventurers were sturdy enough to take a beating-at least she did not have to worry about accidentally killing someone. He walked straight to the bar, took out a few gold coins, and set them on the counter.
"Whatever she broke, I'll pay for it."
At his words, Katie stuck out her tongue and quietly backed away. Li Wei did not scold her, however. Instead, he turned to look at her.
"Where are those people you were talking about?"
